Praise Him in the Storm and you just might create an Earthquake
Oh how I HATE the foundations of personal prisons!! Oh how I hate the experiences that have people chained to their past–chained to guilt, chained to shame, chained to destructive thinking. If I could only destroy them I would!!!
And I can… and you can…
Paul and Silas, after being severely flogged, were singing songs of praise in the prison and others were listening to them (Acts 16). Listen to what the response of the LORD is to such praise in the midst of horrible and dark circumstance:
“Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open and EVERYBODY’S chains came loose.” Acts 16:26
How much would you lift your voice, LOUD in Praise, in the middle of your darkest circumstance,IF you knew that EVERYBODY who is held in bondage would be set free?
Maybe that’s too much for you to really believe (I know it’s too much for me to believe). But what if you knew that as you publicly praised God in your most trying time at least one person held in chains would be set free—would you praise HIM?
Psalm 34:2 “My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt His Name together.”
Your praise, to Your Heavenly Father, in your difficulty just might shake the foundations of another’s prison… and set them Free!!!
